After completing cosmetology training at Phillips Community College in 1997, Rhonda rented a booth for six months from a beauty shop owner in Conway, Arkansas. However, due to her love for people accompanied by her desire to return home and build up her clientele with hopes of opening a shop of her own. After renting booth space in Helena for the next two years, her hopes came true when the doors of Salon 2000 opened May 2000.
Salon 2000 is a professional service barber/beauty salon dedicated to providing consistent service and customer satisfaction. In spring 2003 Rhonda enrolled in the IDA program to save for business renovations and expansion. She began using her funds in 2005 to purchase new equipment, furniture and beauty supplies. Salon 2000 is set apart from local competition by extended hours and since program enrollment, Rhonda has moved to a more convenient location, added two stylists and continues to offer extended hours. Since she is a single mother with two children, owning her own business affords her the income and freedom to take care of her family.
