 Why is asset development important? Because without assets, people who earn low incomes are likely to continue to earn low incomes. By building personal assets through savings and investments, people will learn to take charge of their economic future. Through our Individual Development Accounts (IDAs) and Aspiring Scholars matched-savings accounts, our new and innovative approaches focus on the long-term benefits of building assets to lift families and communities out of poverty. Our financial education, counseling services, and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance sites provide people with an opportunity to learn new skills and receive qualified advice and support. Through our various collaborations, partnerships, and coalitions, as well as our publications, SGFF effectively advocates for working families throughout the state.
